The Genealogy & Local History Room maintains The Courier newspaper on microfilm. As a local history resource, the collection is important for news items of the day, events, opinions, and obituaries. The microfilm can be viewed during normal open hours of the Genealogy & Local History Room.

The department also has the Montgomery County News on microfilm from August 31, 1922 to August 8, 1963. The years 1929, 1930, and 1931 are missing.

To request an Obituary Look-Up: follow this link and use the electronic form to request obituaries published in the Conroe Courier.
We can only search for obituaries for the city of Conroe, Texas, from the years 1916 to present. Microfilm - missing years: 1911-1915, 1924, 1927, 1928; September 4, 1942 through January 3, 1945; parts of 2008 and 2009. We cannot fill requests for those years.
The Genealogy Library, located on the second floor of the Central Library in Conroe, Texas, houses the fourth largest genealogy collection in the state of Texas .
