How to use the Montgomery County Memorial Library System Online Catalog
Find an Item
- Go to the library home page and click "Catalog" (left-hand column).
- Once you are at the catalog page, type a book title, author name, subject word, or other term in one of the text boxes. Click the 'GO' button.
- Click on one of the titles in the list to see its location and status.

Place a Hold

Follow the instructions ' Find An Item' listed above.
- Click the 'REQUEST FIRST AVAILABLE COPY' button , found above the "Copy/Holding Information" bar. NOTE: Clicking the "REQUEST FIRST AVAILABLE COPY" button (rather than the "Request This Copy Only" text found in the "Copy/Holding information" table) is the fastest way to obtain a copy of a high-demand item.

Type your library card number (found on the back of your library card) and the last four numbers of your telephone number and click "Login".
Please note: If login is unsuccessful, please call the library to verify your PIN number.
- The "Request Confirmation" box will pop up.
- Select the pickup location from the drop-down menu.
- When the item arrives at the pickup location, you will be notified by phone. If you prefer mail notification, please request a mailer in the "Comment" box.
- Click the "Request" button.

Check Your Account
- Go to the library home page and click "Catalog" (left column) to go to the introductory screen of the catalog.
- Click the "MY ACCOUNT" tab at the top center of the catalog page.
- Type in the library barcode number found on the back of your library card and the last four digits of your telephone number or a pin number that you have chosen. Please note: If login is unsuccessful, please call the library to verify your PIN number.
- This will take you to the "Account Overview" page where you can click on links to see "Items Out", "Hold Requests", view "Blocks" to check fines, and "Profile" to see and request changes to your personal contact information. (You cannot make any changes to your personal information online, but you can fill out an online form to request a change. All changes are made through the library).

To Renew an Item
Please note: You will not be able to renew an item if it has already been renewed once, or if it is past the due date. Click here for information on problems renewing via the web.

Click the "Catalog" button on the library home page to go to the introductory screen of the catalog.
- Click the "MY ACCOUNT" tab at the top of the page.
- Type in the library barcode number found on the back of your library card and the last four digits of your telephone number. Please note: If login is unsuccessful, please call the library to verify your PIN number.
- Click the "Items Out" link. iPac displays a list of items you currently have checked out.
- Click in the small white square box to the left of the item(s) you want to renew.
- Click the "Renew" box found at the top left column.
- Click "LOGOUT" at the top right corner of the screen.
